About this event

The 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence is an international campaign to challenge violence against women and girls. The campaign runs every year from 25 November to 10 December. In the spirit of this campaign, the Status of Women Committee is hosting a full-day workshop on gender-based violence, with the goals of working to end violence against women and girls, and promoting gender equity, healthy relationships, and a new vision of masculinity.

We are very excited to have Dr. Balbir Gurm, founder of the Network to Eliminate Violence in Relationships (NEVR), and Angela Marie MacDougall, executive director of Battered Women’s Support Services (BWSS), lead us through powerful sessions on ending violence against women and sharing free resources that you can use both personally and in your classrooms.

The Status of Women Committee will cover the costs of your TTOC. Once you have completed your registration, please ensure that you apply for LOA for this event:

  • Article: G.21.7.f - Surrey Teachers’ Association Business
  • Leave with pay
  • Cost of TTOC to be borne by the STA
  • Attention: Angela Marcakis/Lizanne Foster
